The Spanish regional airline Air Nostrum applied to the state fund SEPI for a loan of 103 million euros. The carrier, based in Valencia, operates numerous regional routes on behalf of Iberia. Air Nostrum confirmed that due to the corona pandemic, they have applied for support in the form of the loan.

The regional carrier was considered profitable until the crisis. In the previous year you flew a loss of 129 million euros. Regarding the reasons that made the SEPI application necessary, Air Nostrum writes: “Ensure the necessary resources to overcome the drop in income that has caused the decline in passenger traffic caused by the pandemic, ensure connectivity and ensure the level of employment since the beginning In light of the coronavirus crisis and the drastic decline in air travel demand, the company has maintained a cash-on-hold and cost-cutting policy, and last year made agreements with fleet financiers and used ICO credit lines ”.
