Norwegian has now also filed for bankruptcy protection proceedings for three Spanish subsidiaries. These are Norwegian Air Resources Spain, Red Handling Spain and Red Maintenance Spain. These companies employ the staff deployed from Spain.

The first-mentioned group company is also the employer of the flying personnel of various other bases. This has repeatedly caused severe criticism from the trade unions in the past, because the low-cost airline was accused of combining loopholes in labor law. The three companies are owned by Norwegian Air Shuttle.

The Norwegian Air Resources Shared Service Center, the Group's internal service center, is not affected by the filing for bankruptcy. The carrier writes that the unions that represent employees in the three companies have been informed of the measure in advance. The group now has six months to negotiate with creditors and submit a restructuring plan to the court.

If there is no agreement, the court could also declare the three companies bankrupt and order the liquidation.
