The Spanish airline Air Europa received approval for a 475 million aid package from the state industrial holding Sepi. This is granted in the form of loans. In the next step, the Spanish government must submit the measure to the EU Commission for approval.
Air Europa originally applied for financial aid amounting to 400 million euros. Due to the recent travel restrictions, which have a negative effect on demand, the requested amount was subsequently increased. Due to the changed situation, owner Globalia will have to renegotiate the selling price with the International Airlines Group. The targeted sum of one billion euros can no longer be maintained.
