According to local media reports, the Spanish airline Plus Ultra is also seeking state aid. The removal was directed to the Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales state fund. Air Europa and Evelop Airlines had previously asked for support from this pot due to the corona pandemic.

The Spanish government set up this fund in July 2020 in order to be able to provide aid to companies of strategic importance. The pot is endowed with ten billion euros. Local media repeatedly criticize the fact that the distribution of the funds should be extremely bureaucratic and that the disbursement takes a very long time.

Plus Ultra announced in September 2020 that it would apply for state aid. However, it was added that it did not hope to face discrimination. The carrier fears that the government would rather support Air Europa and Iberia. Plus Ultra currently operates as an ACMI and charter provider. Due to the corona pandemic, pure cargo flights have also been carried out for several months.
