The corona pandemic caused a sharp decline in the number of overnight stays in Spain. Not surprisingly, numerous hoteliers want to throw in the towel and are looking for buyers for their houses.

According to Idealista, there are currently 639 accommodation options available. Hoteliers are throwing their houses on the market in coastal regions particularly heavily, as increases of 44 percent have been recorded here. This has a negative effect on prices, because obviously there is currently significantly more supply than demand.

The local portal Hosteltur writes that in Andalucia alone 135 hotels are waiting for new owners. In Catalonia there are said to be 113 pieces. On the Balearic Islands, 67 accommodation establishments are waiting for new owners. Almost two thirds of the businesses on offer are located in traditional holiday areas. City hotels tend to be less popular.
