The crane airline no longer wants to chauffeur the DFB team free of charge and is considering an early termination of the contract: This rumor got around a few days ago. The German Football Association then cast an eye on Qatar Airways. So far, the parties involved have remained silent - until now.

However, it is not the golf carrier itself that speaks up, but the embassy of the emirate in Berlin. “Contrary to the press reports, there have never been any negotiations or discussions between Qatar Airways and the DFB about sponsorship or other funding,” said Ambassador Abdulla Mohammed Al-Thani from the sports show.

The interest in a deal was rather one-sided, according to the ambassador of the World Cup host of 2022: "Although Qatar Airways was contacted by the DFB with such a request, this has remained unanswered to this day." Qatar Airways is currently not considering entering into negotiations, the ambassador said. In doing so, he publicly denounces the association. In any case, there was criticism from all sides for the sponsorship. A deal with the company of a state in which homosexulity is a criminal offense is not compatible with the values of an association that the DFB is proclaiming.
