An analysis of the booking figures carried out by Tui Austria has shown that the city destinations of Hamburg, London, Lisbon, Barcelona and Paris are particularly in demand this year. The tour operator says it has reacted to this and is increasing capacity.

Tui Austria is also of the opinion that the fact that precisely these destinations are in high demand on short-haul routes is also due to a certain catch-up effect. This would also be evident from the booking figures.

"Among the favorites of our guests from Austria in summer are many cities on or in the immediate vicinity of the sea," says Gottfried Math, Managing Director of Tui Austria. Barcelona is 4th in the ranking. Porto and Palermo, which will be served directly by Austrian Airlines this summer, are seeing significant growth. Málaga and Valencia are also already at or above pre-crisis levels. “Cities by the sea offer an ideal combination of experience and relaxation. Here, a day of sightseeing with many cultural highlights can end in a relaxed atmosphere on the beach or in the harbor with a culinary experience,” continues Math. Overall, the demand for city breaks in the summer of 2023 will increase continuously.
