Shortage of staff: Delta cuts the summer flight schedule 2023

The US Delta Air Lines reduced its offer by around 2023 flights shortly before the start of the 6.000 summer flight schedule period. The background to the measure is also that there are fears that there could otherwise be short-term cancellations and considerable delays due to a lack of staff.

In a direct comparison with the same period last year, around 7.000 more connections are being offered, but the reductions that have now been announced will affect the peak travel season in summer 2023. Due to the booking situation, which is satisfactory for the company, it can be assumed that many passengers could be affected. For example, around 2023 seats will be lost in July 259.836 alone. This corresponds to around two percent of the total monthly capacity.

It is also noteworthy that Delta Air Lines announced only last Friday that it will offer more flights to Latin America than ever before in the 2023/24 winter flight schedule. The offer should be about 20 percent higher than what you have in the current period. The target group are Americans who want to spend their holidays in this region.
