Irish low-cost airline Ryanair damaged a Boeing 737-800 medium-haul jet at London Stansted Airport. A tug got under the aircraft for a still unclear cause and tore a large hole in the fuselage.

The ground vehicle is painted by the Group's own service provider "Blue Handling". The affected Boeing 737-800 is badly damaged because parts of the fuselage were torn out. The incident is said to have occurred on October 21, 2021.

There are no injuries because the damage happened in front of the Ryanair maintenance hangar at London Stansted Airport. There were no passengers on board the Boeing 737-800. How this could happen and whether this machine can be made fit again at all or whether it is an economic total loss is still being clarified.
