In the first five months of 2022, Austrian commercial airports counted a total of 8.024.070 passengers on 76.309 flights. With 6.837.029 travelers, the vast majority went to Vienna-Schwechat Airport.

With 62.877 take-offs or landings, the capital's airport also had significantly more movements than all other federal state airports combined. Salzburg and Innsbruck show that significantly more winter sports enthusiasts flew to Austria again in winter 2021/23. Both airports make the majority of their annual turnover with incoming business during the cold season.

With only 18.738 passengers on 334 flights, Klagenfurt had the fewest passengers in the first five months. With 50.949 passengers on 1.182 movements, Linz performed significantly better, but the volume was still well below the level it had before the corona pandemic. At both airports, the situation was made more difficult by the fact that scheduled connections were repeatedly temporarily suspended.

The table below summarizes passenger numbers and movements for the first five months of the current year. Since demand rose sharply in June and July 2022, it can be expected that most Austrian airports will benefit from the travel boom.
