On September 18, Stuttgart Airport invited people to clean up the airport fence together on World Cleanup Day. More than 100 helpers took part and collected cigarette butts, packaging waste, lost masks and other rubbish while walking on the Fildern.

Around 250 liters of waste were collected on the afternoon of the event. At three stations between the tower in Filderstadt-Bernhausen and the eastern end of the runway, the airport provided volunteers with cleanup equipment such as garbage bags and gloves. At the Steppach reservoir, STR also treated all participants to a scoop of ice cream from Eiswerkstatt Stuttgart. "Stuttgart Airport is surrounded by communities, fields, streams and lakes. With its long-standing sustainability strategy, fairport STR, the state airport is assuming ecological and social responsibility in the region," the press release states.
