ZIM Aircraft Seating Group, an internationally operating specialist for passenger seating solutions, has announced a significant expansion of its management team. Stefan Kroll has assumed the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and President of ZIM Germany, effective immediately. The 62-year-old graduate engineer has over 36 years of experience in the aviation industry, including positions at renowned industry leaders such as Airbus, Bombardier Aviation Services, and Adient Aerospace. In his new role, he will be responsible for the entire technology and development division as well as operations at the company's German locations.
This personnel decision comes against the backdrop of dynamic growth. ZIM Aircraft Seating, which is part of the portfolio of the investment company Aurelius, has seen a continuous increase in its order backlog in recent fiscal years. To meet the rising demand from global airlines such as Lufthansa, Delta Air Lines, and Singapore Airlines, the company began a massive expansion of its engineering and logistics facilities last year. Kroll's expertise in technological transformation is expected to contribute to scaling production capacities in Germany and strengthening the seat manufacturer's industrial base for global competition.
The newly expanded three-member board, consisting of CEO Raffael Rogg, Co-CEO Yvonne McConachie, and CTO Stefan Kroll, is focusing on closer integration between global product strategy and operational efficiency. The emphasis is on further developing the portfolio in the Economy and Premium Economy segments. Since ZIM supplies both major aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing (OEMs) and numerous international airlines directly, high delivery reliability combined with technological innovation is crucial. The expansion of the management team is intended to create the necessary organizational stability to successfully implement the planned capacity expansions at the three locations in Germany and the USA.
With approximately 550 employees, the group is now among the leading independent players in the aircraft seat market. The appointment of an experienced manager like Kroll underscores the company's commitment to optimizing complex engineering processes and driving the modernization of its globally networked development organization. Industry insiders view the move as a clear signal that ZIM intends to further expand its market share through improved industrial processes and a consistent focus on the requirements of modern fleet management systems.
