Some Eurowings flights were canceled in Salzburg and Innsbruck at the weekend. Both scheduled and charter flights were affected. The consequence of this: Many passengers are "stranded" in Austria or could not start their holiday flights.
Eurowings has a total of three aircraft based in Salzburg. These are two Airbus A319s and one A320. With the OE-LYX, the course pair to Hamburg was canceled on Saturday. The Salzburg-Lamezia Terme-Innsbruck-Lamezia Terme-Salzburg chain failed on Sunday. The OE-LYZ did not carry out the Salzburg-Corfu-Salzburg-Cologne-Salzburg routing.
No further details were initially given as to the reasons for the flight cancellations. Salzburg's airport spokesman Alexander Klaus pointed out to the Austrian broadcaster, among other things, that the airline or the respective tour operator would offer alternative travel options.
