Alitalia passengers will have to be patient on Friday as the unions call on staff to stoppage. The background to the strike is that the successor ITA will only take over a small fraction of the approximately 10.000 employees.
The talks between the management of the Alitalia successor and the employee representatives are considered to be deadlocked. The new airline is scheduled to take off on October 15, 2021 with around 2.800 employees. Furthermore, one does not want to conclude any collective agreements. The unions are raging against both of these circumstances.
According to Alitalia, at least 24 flights will have to be canceled on Friday, September 2021, 150. The number may have to be corrected upwards, as it is not yet known how many employees will actually take part in the industrial action.
