In Greece, a seafarers' strike has been announced for May 1st.

For 24 hours, work is to be stopped at the ports across the country, which will also eliminate all ferry connections. Holidaymakers must therefore resort to alternative means of transport between the mainland and the islands, such as available domestic flights.

As reported by several Greek media, the Panhellenic Shipping Federation (PNO) trade union has called for a day-long strike on May 1st. This should extend to all ship categories, so ferries are also affected. The strike is scheduled to begin at 0:01 a.m. and end at midnight. According to a statement by the trade union, the goal of the protest action is to show solidarity with the labor movement. May 1st is a public holiday in Greece as well as in Austria as "Labor Day". Because the date falls on a Sunday this year, this holiday was officially moved to May 2nd, as Check24 reports.

No more proof from May 1st

In Greece, the corona-related access restrictions for public facilities and indoor spaces will no longer apply from May 1st. Then restaurants, bars and events will be accessible again without visitors having to show a negative test, proof of vaccination or proof of recovery. However, it has not yet been finally determined whether the abolition of the obligation to provide proof should also apply to entry into Greece. According to the current status, holidaymakers aged five and over must comply with the 3G rule for entry.
