The crane airline had drastically reduced its South Africa flights after restrictions on travel due to a new coronavirus variant. Now, however, the situation has increasingly relaxed again.

That is why the crane airline is expanding its flight offer there again. “Almost half of the destinations will be in Africa,” said the Lufthansa regional manager André Schulz. These include flights to Windhoek (Namibia), Mauritius, Mombasa (Kenya) and Zanzibar (Tanzania). The Eurowings flights from Namibia to Germany would also be increased to five flights a week.

Schulz announced that there will be three weekly flights again between the South African tourist metropolis of Cape Town and Frankfurt from the end of March. In addition, the flights between Frankfurt and Johannesburg would be increased to five flights a week from April. Added to this are the existing three weekly flights operated by the Swiss subsidiary between Zurich and Johannesburg. For the next few months, the group expects bookings to be up to 50 percent higher than in the previous year, which was marked by restrictions, reports the Reuters.
