South Korea has relaxed testing rules for foreign travelers. In future, they will no longer have to undergo a rapid antigen test six or seven days after arrival; only the two corona tests before departure and after arrival will remain mandatory.
Since June 1, only two corona tests have been necessary instead of the previous three. First of all, passengers must take a PCR test before departure, which is not older than 48 hours at the time of departure. Alternatively, a rapid antigen test that is no more than 24 hours old can also be submitted. After arriving at the Korean airport, a PCR test was previously required for foreign nationals immediately after landing, which can now be done within three days. The rapid antigen test after six to seven days is no longer required with immediate effect, the authorities only make a recommendation for further tests.
No quarantine with vaccination
Unvaccinated travelers must self-quarantine for seven days. To avoid this, the vaccination certificate can be uploaded to the "Q-Code" platform in advance. The QR code generated in this way is presented upon entry and exempts you from the obligation to isolate. South Korea considers travelers fully vaccinated if they receive a booster vaccination or have completed the basic vaccination schedule between 14 and 180 days prior to entry.
