Summer bookings are booming – flight bottlenecks expected

The booking season for summer holidays 2025 is already in full swing in Vienna. Travel agencies are seeing high demand for tried-and-tested holiday destinations, including Croatia, Italy, Greece, Spain and Turkey. Long-haul destinations such as North America and Asia are also becoming increasingly popular. Despite stable prices, industry representatives advise booking early to benefit from early bird discounts.

According to Gregor Kadanka, chairman of the travel agency group in the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, the number of flights available remains limited. Due to delays in the delivery of new aircraft, capacity is once again tight, which already led to bottlenecks last year. This could lead to rising prices or limited availability, especially during peak travel times.

According to Kadanka, it is currently not possible to say whether there will be any last-minute offers for short-term travelers in the summer. The situation on the flight market could mean that spontaneous bookings are more expensive than in the past. Early bookers, on the other hand, not only secure cheaper prices, but also a larger selection of destinations and accommodations.
