Erfurt-Weimar Airport has been used by 62.371 passengers since the start of the local summer holidays. In a direct comparison with the same period last year, the number of passengers tripled.
Holiday flights to Antalya, Mallorca, Crete, Rhodes, Bulgaria and Hurghada are currently being operated. According to Erfurt Airport, the Turkish destination is particularly in demand. Currently, various tour operators and three airlines offer their services in the direction of Antalya.
In addition to the regular flights, the tour operators have included special trips to selected destinations in their program, putting colored dots in all directions in Erfurt's flight schedule. Here, for example, Montenegro, the Channel Islands Jersey and Guernsey, Sardinia, Bologna and Croatia are served in September, Palermo and Croatia again in October. The special trips from Erfurt-Weimar are offered by the tour operators Vianova, Thüringer Reisen and Mundo.
“After two difficult years in a row as a result of the corona pandemic, things are now picking up again at the airport in the tourist business. Since we kept our airport team together during the crisis and employed them elsewhere, we can now offer our passengers and partners smooth airport operations," says airport manager Gerd Stöwer, who expects the use of the airport he manages to continue to increase.
With Antalya, Gran Canaria and Hurghada, the first popular destinations in the cold season are already on offer and available for booking. In addition, the Weimar tour operator Vianova offers special winter trips to Rome, Lapland and the Arctic Circle from Erfurt Airport.
