Summer holidays 2023: Basel expects longer waiting times

Basel-Mulhouse Airport assumes that the airport will be used significantly more during the summer holidays. One warns that there could be longer waiting times at the checkpoints as well as at the security checkpoint.

Euro-Airport recommends that passengers should arrive at least two hours before departure. It is therefore advisable to find out about the entry requirements of the respective airline and the destination country in good time before departure. Is an identity card enough or is a passport and maybe a visa required? Checking in online can also save time. Please check with your airline if online check-in is possible.

“The increased passenger volume can lead to longer waiting times both at passport control and at the check-in area. We therefore recommend travelers to be at the airport early and have their documents for check-in and passport control ready at the counter. In order to go through the security check as relaxed as possible and to avoid unnecessary waiting times, we also ask the passengers to find out in advance what belongs in their checked baggage and what in their hand baggage. For security reasons, certain items may not be taken on the flight,” said Basel-Mulhouse Airport in a press release.
