Paderborn Airport was used by 151.836 travelers during the North Rhine-Westphalia summer holidays. In a direct comparison with the same period of the previous year, it was possible to increase by 25 percent. The pre-crisis volume was exceeded by 14 percent.
According to the airport, an increase of around ten percent was initially assumed. This was significantly exceeded, which is also attributed to the fact that the machines to/from Paderborn were heavily utilized. The most popular destinations included Antalya, Palma de Mallorca, Greek islands, Egyptian Hurghada and the new destinations Alicante and Malaga served by Ryanair.
"During the NRW summer holidays in 2023, we had more passengers than we had in ten years. We are very happy about this additional impetus. The past few weeks have impressively demonstrated how important the home port is to the people in our regions of East Westphalia, Lippe and South Westphalia. The strong numbers are an incentive for us to drive forward the further development of the airport in a targeted manner and to maintain the high level of service and, if possible, to expand it," comments Airport Managing Director Roland Hüser on the latest passenger numbers.
