Compared to 2021, Sun Express, the joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, has doubled the number of passengers this year.

On the routes from Germany to Turkey alone, the carrier has transported two million passengers since the beginning of 2022 and, based on current forecasts, will exceed the annual target of ten million passengers. “We are proud to have gotten through this summer's peak period without any flight schedule cancellations due to ground staff shortages at airports in Europe. We were able to fly a record number of passengers on their well-deserved vacation or to visit their friends and families,” said Max Kownatzki, CEO of Sun Express. Sun Express was recently named Best Leisure Airline in the World for the first time at the 2022 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
