Sundair is reinstating Stockholm-Beirut

The German holiday airline Sundair will provide the connection between Stockholm and Beirut back on. The route will be operated for the last time next week.

Managing director Marcos Rossello confirmed this to Aviation Direct. It has not yet been determined whether this route will be reactivated at a later point in time or not. In the summer flight schedule of 2021, Sundair wants to focus on flights from Germany.

When asked about the reason for the abandonment of the Stockholm-Beirut route, Rossello said that it was only planned until March 2021 anyway. The current weak demand due to the global pandemic situation would no longer justify the high expenditure. As an example, he cited that crews have to travel to/from Stockholm to relieve their colleagues. So far, the connection has been served according to the following pattern: Düsseldorf-Beirut-Stockholm-Beirut-Düsseldorf. The crew change therefore took place in Sweden. Rossello makes "no secret" of the fact that the early abandonment of the first route outside Germany is due to low capacity utilization and says "unfortunately, that's the way it is".
