The corona pandemic has found another victim in the Swedish regional airline Air Leap. The carrier had to completely stop flight operations on Monday. According to the statement by the board of directors, this is for financial reasons.

Until recently, the Swedish regional carrier had a fleet consisting of an ATR72-500 and four Saab 340B. Furthermore, two Lipican Aer Saab 2000 were in service on behalf of Air Leap as part of a wet lease agreement.

The management explained that they are unable to maintain flight operations under the current conditions. Among other things, it is stated that the company flew for two years without any financial help from the government and thus maintained connectivity. For financial reasons we are no longer able to do this.

However, one does not want to speak of a complete throwing of the towel. A comprehensive reorganization of the company is aimed at. In Norway, where Air Leap was also active, they also had a Fokker 50 operated by Amapola Flyg. However, the offshoot does not have its own AOC, but operates under the Swedish certificates.
