So far, wearing MNS masks has only been recommended. But from now on, these must also be worn by Swiss and other carriers from the Confederation.

The Swiss government now obliges the wearing of MNS masks on all public transport. This also includes commercial aircraft, which is why the airlines supervised by the FOCA now explicitly require the wearing of mouth and nose protection. So far, for example, Swiss had only recommended this, but now the Lufthansa subsidiary makes it mandatory.

However, aircraft are not explicitly mentioned in the ordinance of the Swiss authorities. Swiss anchored the obligation to wear in the general terms and conditions, making them a condition of carriage. At many European airports, including Austria and Germany, for example, it is mandatory to wear MNS masks or a comparable protection that has similar properties. In some cases it even happened that the transport of "mask refusers" was refused at individual airlines.
