The Swiss airline is canceling its flights to and from Shanghai.
Because of the pandemic measures and because no ground service is available at Shanghai Airport, the Lufthansa subsidiary will not serve the Chinese metropolis until the beginning of May, the company confirms to “Radio SRF”. Swiss had already canceled individual flights to Shanghai at the end of March.
While corona restrictions are being eased in many parts of the world, China is sticking to a restrictive zero-Covid strategy. A strict curfew has been in effect in Shanghai for two weeks. The city of 26 million people is as good as standing still. In the meantime, there are even some areas in which the supply of people with everyday goods can no longer be fully maintained. The authorities are currently reporting 25.000 corona infections within 24 hours, with one in ten showing symptoms of the disease.
