The Airbus A330-900 operated by TAP Air Portugal with the registration CS-TUJ suffered a collision on the ground at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport on Friday. The long-haul jet lost one of the two Sharklets.

The exact cause is still unclear and is currently being investigated by accident investigators. Local media report that the TAP-A330-900 is said to have touched a lamp post with the Sharklet. This resulted in the wingtip tearing off. According to the airline, the amount of property damage is still unclear.

No injuries should have occurred in the incident. A TAP spokesperson said, “The 232 passengers on board disembarked smoothly and their safety was never at stake. The causes are properly investigated ”.
