Portuguese airline TAP reports increased operational performance in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year. Operating income rose by 3,1% to a total of EUR 862 million, with the passenger segment particularly standing out with an increase of 5%.

The number of passengers transported increased by 0,6%, while capacity increased by 3,8%. Recurring EBITDA reached EUR 83,7 million, while recurring EBIT recorded a negative amount of EUR 43,3 million. Despite these figures, CEO Luís Rodrigues reiterated the company's commitment to a sustainably profitable future. The group has a solid liquidity position of EUR 1.133,4 million. TAP's decision to invest in air travel despite the challenges of the pandemic is reflected in this increased performance.
