Tel Aviv: El Al plans non-stop flights to Melbourne and Tokyo

For decades, Saudi Arabian airspace was taboo for Israeli airlines. That changed a few weeks ago, so that El Al, for example, no longer has to fly long detours. Now one thinks about non-stop flights to Melbourne and Tokyo.

Due to the fact that, for example, El Al now allowed to use the airspace of Saudi Arabia, previously practiced detours are no longer necessary. For the carrier, this opens up new opportunities that you want to seize. Melbourne and Tokyo are to be included from the home base in Tel Aviv, but no specific dates have been given for the first flights.

In theory, these two destinations could have been offered in Saudi Arabian airspace even before the flight ban was lifted, but El Al was of the opinion that these would have been uneconomical due to the necessary detours. Company boss Dina Ben Tal Ganancia has now announced that it wants to start non-stop flights to Melbourne and Tokyo. The manager also sees potential in being able to transport numerous transfer passengers, for example from Europe, via Tel Aviv to Japan and Australia. Plans are currently underway for the inclusion of the two routes, but no dates have been set for the first flights.
