Thailand is planning to expand the two international airports in its capital, Bangkok.

According to plans by the airport operating company AOT, Suvarnabhumi Airport will have a total of three new passenger terminals, and the third expansion phase is to begin at Don Mueang Airport. The expansions are necessary due to the sharp increase in passenger numbers after the corona pandemic. In October alone, around 3 million passengers used the airports, as der-farang.com reported.

According to media reports, offers for the construction measures at both airports are to be obtained from the beginning of 2023. On the one hand, the tender is for the construction of a new terminal in the eastern area of Suvarnabhumi Airport, which the airport operator wants to pay the equivalent of around 273,4 million euros for. In the future, two more terminals are to be added, one to the west of the current main building and one to the north of it. In addition, the tender for the third expansion phase of Bangkok's second airport, Don Mueang, has started, for which a budget of almost one billion euros has been budgeted.
