Thailand is currently evaluating that entry requirements for fully vaccinated people could be further relaxed from June 2022. From June 1, 2022, the currently required PCR tests and online entry registration could be omitted.

However, this has not yet been finally decided, because the further development of the corona numbers will be observed in April 2022. Thailand is currently practicing what is known as the “Test&Go” program. In concrete terms, this means that a negative PCR test must be submitted. Another swab will be taken during entry. At least one rapid antigen test must be completed on the fifth day. Furthermore, proof must be provided that you have booked a so-called SHA-Extra+ hotel or quarantine accommodation for the first night.

Thailand is currently assuming that it will have around seven million tourists this year. The record numbers of 2019 are not expected to be reached before 2024. Recently, the Omicron variant and the war in Ukraine have had a negative impact on demand. The Asian state is also feeling the effects of the rise in ticket prices, partly due to the longer flight routes from Europe.
