From July 1st, holidaymakers in Thailand only have to present a vaccination card or a negative CoV test upon arrival.

The previously required online registration for the "Thailand Pass" for entry will be cancelled. Insurance in the event of a CoV disease is no longer required. In addition, the obligation to wear masks outdoors will be abolished and should only apply to large gatherings of people.

The easing was announced today after a meeting of the CoV crisis center CCSA. The number of infections has fallen steadily in recent weeks. Today, health authorities reported around 1.900 new cases and 19 deaths linked to Covid-19. That's why bars and entertainment venues will be allowed to open again until two in the morning from July - instead of only until midnight as before.

The country hopes the easing will attract more vacationers and increase the number to at least 7,5 million vacationers by the end of the year, Tourism Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said. The industry is extremely important for Thailand. However, the country is still a long way from the numbers before the pandemic: in 2019, 40 million people traveled to the holiday destination known for its beautiful beaches, temples and jungle.
