Thailand wants to abolish the corona entry requirements from October 1st. Then those entering the country should no longer have to present proof of vaccination or a negative test if they want to visit the country.

According to media reports, the strict corona controls at Thailand's border will end next Saturday. The responsible health authorities in the country decided to relax after a meeting in the middle of last week, at the same time the status of COVID-19 in Thailand was redefined, as Check24 reports. Accordingly, from October the virus will no longer be considered a “dangerous communicable disease” but will be on the list of “monitored communicable diseases”. As a result, those infected with Corona will no longer be denied entry to Thailand, they only have to wear face masks and follow precautions for five days so as not to endanger others. Isolation is no longer required if symptoms are at most mild. The new regulation still has to be approved by the Thai corona supervisory authority CCSA.

In Thailand, the high season for tourists from Europe and the USA who want to escape the cold season in their homeland begins in autumn. The authorities hope that the simplified entry conditions will boost tourism, which has been severely slowed down during the pandemic. So far, around five million holidaymakers have visited the Southeast Asian country since the beginning of the year, and the number of guests is expected to rise to ten million by the end of 2022.
