Later this year: Wizz Air Malta will take over the Vienna base

The aircraft of the Wizz Air Group stationed in Vienna-Schwechat will in future be operated by the new subsidiary Wizz Air Malta. The changeover will take place at the end of November or beginning of December 2022 and has already been made visible in the reservation system.

From this point on, the destinations Amman, Barcelona, ​​Bari, Eindhoven, London-Gatwick, Malaga, Nice, Nis, Ohrid, Pristina, Keflavik, Tel Aviv and Tenerife will be served by Airbus A321neo aircraft Wizz Air Malta operated. Their aircraft will also be used at Rome-Fiumicino, Naples, Catania, Milan-Malpensa, Venice, Turin, and in the W pattern from Chisinau and Memmingen. Other routes will be converted at a later date.

In December 2022, all routes offered with aircraft based in Vienna-Schwechat will be switched to Wizz Air Malta. Only routes using aircraft based at other airports will continue to be served by Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, Wizz Air Hungary and Wizz Air UK. In most cases, Wizz Air Malta flights are operated under Wizz Air Hungary flight numbers, as it formally only acts as an intra-group wet lease provider.

The airline has not issued any statement on the forthcoming changeover in Vienna-Schwechat, which has already been made public in the reservation system.
