Thyme Opco confirms Flybe restart

The planned restart of the insolvent regional airline Flybe has so far been bumpy. Now Thyme Opco and the insolvency administrator have confirmed the plans to restart. The company will operate as "Flybe Ltd." and is expected to reactivate numerous former Flybe routes in the summer of 2021.

The regional airline had to file for bankruptcy in March 2020. Cyrus Capital acquired some assets from the crowd in the fall of 2020. Under the name Thyme Opco, the British Civil Aviation Authority was searched for Issuance of AOC and operating license. Flybe's certificates were still valid. It was planned that the slots should be transferred to the start-up, but the CAA decided against it. The operating license was only a few weeks ago permanently suspended.

Exactly this matter is not over yet, because Thyme Opco appealed against the decision of the CAA. Much depends on that, because the slots at Heathrow, which are considered to be particularly valuable, appear to be particularly important for the start of the “new Flybe”. The actual restart of the regional airline will therefore depend primarily on the decision of the civil aviation authority. The former OE-LGA has already been entered in the British register as G-CLXC as the first aircraft. This DHC Dash 8-400 flog last for Austrian Airlines.
