Toulouse: Airbus resumes work on A320 Family terminus

Airbus senses an end to the corona crisis. The European aircraft manufacturer resumes construction of a new final assembly line for the A320 family.

In the previous A380 plant in Toulouse, the long version Airbus A2022 will also be manufactured from the end of 321, as the European Boeing rival announced on Wednesday. So far, Airbus has only built the A321 and its new version A321neo in Hamburg and at the US plant in Mobile (Alabama). Airbus initially put the construction of the new assembly line on hold due to the Corona crisis last year and significantly reduced aircraft production. 

However, Airbus is now anticipating increasing demand and is pushing ahead with the renovation of the halls in Toulouse, where the Airbus A380 large-capacity jet was previously assembled. The French-German group announced on Wednesday that as many of the short-haul aircraft in the A320 family could be built again sometime between 2023 and 2025 as before the crisis. The A320 Family is the world's best-selling commercial aircraft with over 15.500 aircraft sold to more than 320 customers and an order backlog of over 5.650 aircraft.
