The end of production of the Airbus A380, also known colloquially as the superjumbo, is approaching inexorably. The specimen with the serial number 272 will be in station 40 in the end of the month. The four-jet engine is scheduled for delivery to Emirates.
It is still completely open whether this A380 will ever be put into active scheduled service. Many units of this type are currently parked around the world. Numerous airlines have already announced the final end of their superjumbo fleets. The prestige project Airbus A380 was not a commercial success, because last year the European aircraft manufacturer announced the discontinuation of production. The background is that unfortunately there are no more new orders.
When the last orders have been processed, production ends after 251 copies. Some Airbus A380s that have already been completed are in “interim storage” in Toulouse and at another French airport. These nine super jumbos are intended for delivery to Emirates or ANA, although they have not yet been handed over due to the corona pandemic.
