The annual toy fair in Nuremberg, which opens its doors from January 2025 to February 28 in 1, is a global meeting place for the toy industry. With its international appeal, the fair attracts both exhibitors and visitors from all over the world. Nuremberg Airport plays a key role in the arrival of participants, recording a significant increase in passenger numbers during the fair period.

In order to cope with the influx of international guests, several airlines have increased their capacity for flights to Nuremberg. Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines in particular are responding with larger aircraft and additional connections. Lufthansa has expanded its capacity at the Frankfurt hub and is deploying four additional Airbus A320s and one Airbus A321 during the trade fair. This measure aims to make it easier for trade fair visitors from different regions of the world to travel to the airport.

Turkish Airlines goes one step further and uses wide-body aircraft for its connections to Nuremberg. At the start of the trade fair, an Airbus A330-200 with up to 300 seats will be used. At the end of the trade fair, the airline will even use a Boeing 787-9 twice, which also has space for around 300 passengers.

In addition, trade fair visitors benefit from a special cooperation between Turkish Airlines and the Toy Fair. Participants can take advantage of discounts on international flights to Nuremberg, which further increases the attractiveness of traveling by plane.

Airport as an important hub

Nuremberg Airport is of central importance for the Toy Fair. "For the Toy Fair, the airlines use larger aircraft to bring the fair guests to Nuremberg. The high level of internationality of the fair makes the airport crucial for good accessibility of the metropolitan region, so that exhibitors and visitors can travel to the world's largest toy fair in a relaxed manner," explains press spokesman Christian Albrecht.

In addition to the airport's logistical function, the advertising space is also used intensively during the trade fair. International toy manufacturers welcome guests with colorful and attention-grabbing campaigns. Well-known brands such as Barbie, Fireman Sam and Playmobil are prominently featured in the baggage claim area, the arrivals hall and outside. This visual presence underlines the importance of the trade fair as a platform for the industry.

International Importance of the Toy Fair

For decades, the toy fair has been a central location for the presentation of new products, exchange within the industry and forging international business relationships. Nuremberg benefits as a location from the global appeal of this event. The airport plays a crucial role in this by ensuring the city's connection to international markets.

The additional flight capacity and the high demand show that the toy fair is of great importance not only for the industry, but also for the regional infrastructure. The cooperation between organizers, airlines and Nuremberg Airport ensures that arrival and departure are handled smoothly and thus contributes to the success of the event.
