The six Austrian airports only counted 2021 passengers in January 203.352. In direct comparison with the same month last year, this means a decrease of 92 percent. The number of flight movements fell by 84 percent to 4.052 take-offs and landings. The low demand due to the tough entry and quarantine regulations therefore has an enormously negative effect on the traffic figures.

The five airports in the Austrian federal states came through January 2021 very differently. Graz came through the month comparatively “well” with 2.714 travelers and 115 flight movements. In direct comparison with the same period in the previous year, however, the values are a disaster: 89 percent fewer flight movements and a decrease in passengers of 96 percent.

Innsbruck counted a total of 2021 passengers in January 1.298 - a decrease of 99 percent. The number of take-offs and landings fell by 95 percent to 77 flight movements. In Klagenfurt only four flights with 48 passengers on board were carried out. This means that the Carinthian airport had 98 percent fewer take-offs and landings and, mathematically, 100 percent fewer travelers.

Linz Airport had no passengers at all in January. 48 take-offs and landings were carried out, for example in the cargo segment. As a result, the Upper Austrian airport was 78 percent below the figure for the same month last year in terms of flight movements.

In Salzburg the number of take-offs and landings was reduced to 38. The airport was used by 997 passengers. Mathematically, this results in a decrease of 100 percent. Also at Austria's largest airport, Vienna-Schwechat, the corona pandemic had a major impact. The number of passengers fell by 91 percent to 198.295 travelers. The take-offs and landings were reduced by 81 percent to 3.733 flight movements.
