Optimistic view of the future: After the first two quarters of the year were almost entirely dominated by lockdown and ongoing travel restrictions, the business travel market in Germany is recovering.

The business travel platform TravelPerk is now drawing a positive balance for the third quarter, because both the booking volume, the number of air trips and the duration of travel are above the pre-crisis level from 2019. "In September in particular, the number of business trips in the German market increased significantly," explains Eugen Triebelhorn, Country Manager Germany at TravelPerk. “The increasing growth rate in Germany, but also in our other markets, allows us to look positively into the future. Corporate customers from the technology, retail and manufacturing sectors are particularly contributing to the recovery. "

The number of business trips to and from Germany by train and plane in July, August and September approached the level of 2019. TravelPerk has seen a significant shift in the choice of means of transport. Business travel by train currently accounts for around 50 to 60 percent of all business traffic in Germany.
