Aviation has been on the ground since the corona pandemic - not only the airlines are affected, but also the entire supply chains. The international aviation supplier ACM Aerospace, which specializes in the production and overhaul of cabin interiors, is now recording the best financial year in its 50-year history thanks to a plan B.
Because ACM Aerospace has implemented a radical change in production within a very short period of time: certified surgical gowns for fighting pandemics are now being produced instead of helicopter or aircraft parts. Thanks to this flexibility, the company not only has a new mainstay, but was also able to create over 50 new jobs despite the difficult times at the moment. In the middle of the crisis.
“At the beginning of the year we looked at the development of the pandemic with concern and were certain that it would spill over to Europe. Therefore, all registers were pulled and considered, with which professional competences ACM Aerospace could be successful with a plan B in the pandemic ”, so Roger Hohl, managing director of ACM Aerospace. The company employs people across the company who, for example, have textile expertise in a wide variety of areas. Thanks to the use of synergies, it was possible to switch production very quickly to fully medical protective clothing.
Despite the success with protective equipment, ACM Aerospace is currently researching and developing antiviral and antibacterial products for the aircraft cabin at full speed, including the first antiviral seat cover and seat belt. “Right now in the biggest aviation crisis to date, it is important to invest significantly in research and development instead of standing still! Because the time can be used excellently to bring more innovative products into the cabin. Anyone who survives this crisis will in any case be able to act stronger in the market afterwards, ”said Hohl.
