Donald Trump wants to reopen the US borders for Europeans in his last days in office. But his successor immediately rejects it.

It's like a political tennis game. As soon as the incumbent US president announced the end of the entry ban, the future government of his successor Joe Biden countered and put a stop to the regulation. A decree circulated by the White House said the restrictions on travelers from the Schengen area, Great Britain and Ireland, and Brazil would be lifted on January 26th. Trump nevertheless pointed out that a negative corona test must be presented. According to him, only the entry bans for foreigners from China and Iran will remain in place. That ruling would come into effect six days after his resignation as president, reports the Time.

But this is not the right time to initiate easing, according to the Biden team. “On the advice of our medical advisors, the government does not intend to end these restrictions on January 26.1th. "With the pandemic worsening and more contagious varieties appearing around the world, this is not the time to lift restrictions on international travel." Instead, the Biden government is planning further measures related to international travel to curb the spread of the virus. Biden has made fighting the pandemic one of his most important immediate goals. In any case, one measure that has been adopted applies from January 26th: Entrants must necessarily have a negative Covid-19 test. Otherwise the vacation ends at the airport.
