Turkey no longer wants to sell fuel to Russian carriers

Russian air traffic to Turkey has tripled since the Russian war. The USA demanded sanctions from Turkey against the warring country, which Turkey is now complying with: Russian airlines are no longer allowed to refuel their planes there.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, some countries have announced sanctions against the country, including the closure of their respective airspace. Turkey, on the other hand, has not closed its airspace to the Russians. After the war, the number of flights from Russian airlines to Turkey tripled. Turkey has been an essential country for Russia since the beginning of the war.

However, the USA has been demanding since the beginning of the year the imposition of sanctions by the Turksegg. Turkey at least partially fulfilled this requirement and announced a ban on refueling Russian aircraft. For Russian airlines such as Aeroflot or S7, the trip to Turkey will now be classified as a lot more problematic.
