The shipping company Tui Cruises has decided that fewer passengers will be allowed on board the cruise ships in the future. The departure of Mein Schiff 19, which is planned for January 2022, 1, is directly affected. The decision causes annoyance among customers who are not allowed to travel with them.

Only on Monday did a cruise have to be canceled again due to numerous corona cases. Initially, it was said that those passengers who wanted to board Mein Schiff 2 in Barbados were being sent home. Shortly thereafter, the cancellation of the exit was announced.

Tui Cruises is now reducing the maximum number of people that can be transported. As a result, not all paying passengers were allowed on board in Bremerhaven. Since the decision was communicated at extremely short notice, there was anger and frustration among travelers. Some of these have let off a lot of steam on social media. It is particularly annoying for many that they have already completed chargeable PCR tests.

Among other things, the shipping company explained: “The dynamic spread of Omikron is a challenge for all of us. Even though we have been offering cruises with a comprehensive health concept again since summer 2020, we are constantly learning about the current situation and adapting our measures accordingly. Against the background of the latest findings and experiences of the last few weeks, we decided at short notice to reintroduce stricter occupancy limits to protect guests and crew on longer trips. Since the number of guests for the 19.1. planned voyage of Mein Schiff 1 is currently above that, after considering all the possibilities, we have decided to cancel the voyage for a smaller group of guests at short notice. Knowing full well that there is no 'just' solution here, we made the selection based on the time of booking. We realize this is a major disappointment for the guests concerned who have been looking forward to their time on board. At this point, we can only ask for your understanding of this very short-term decision."
