The airline division of the travel group Tui will be under the management of David Schelp from January 2024. He follows David Burling, who will enter his well-deserved retirement at the end of 2023.
Schelp already worked for the Tui Group between 2002 and 2022. Most recently, he headed the "Tui Musement" division. He then left the group at the end of 2022. He is now returning to Germany's largest tour operator as a member of the board. From the beginning of 2024, he will be responsible for the global tour operator and airline business.
David Schelp will head the Markets and Airlines department at Tui AG. As Chief Airline Officer, Marco Ciomperlik will continue to be the head of all five group-owned airlines. These include the German Tuifly, the British Tui Airways, the Swedish Tuifly Nordic, the Belgian Tuifly Belgium and the Dutch Tuifly Nederland.
In the past, Tui was also represented in France with its own airline, Corsair International. This was initially sold to Intro Aviation and is now owned by Diamondale. The German Tuifly was originally in the air as a Hapag-Llyod flight. Today's brand was created from the merger of this airline with the low-cost airline Hapag-Lloyd Express.
