Nobody knows what summer 2021 will actually be like. But the TUI booking portals provide insight into which destinations Austrian vacationers would choose.

“The desire to travel is great, our customers want to enjoy a vacation again by summer at the latest. We are convinced that the vaccine and improved test options will bring the necessary security to be able to travel more soon, ”says Gottfried Math, Managing Director TUI Austria, optimistically. TUI is indeed expecting a sustained recovery in business in the coming weeks. And the first trends are already emerging: Greece will remain the most popular travel destination in the upcoming summer of 2021.

The country in Southeastern Europe is picking up where it left off. Because low numbers of infections, coherent hygiene concepts and a wide range had already made Greece the most popular holiday destination in 2020. With Crete, Rhodes and Kos, three Greek islands secure a place in the top 5 of the most popular travel destinations. Spain slips into fourth place behind Croatia and Italy. In addition to Mallorca, Gran Canaria and Tenerife are also among the most sought-after and booked travel destinations in Spain. The Canary Islands would also be in high demand during the current lockdown. The Turkish Riviera, on the other hand, has slipped from third to fifth in terms of bookings compared to the previous year.
