The longer the travel restrictions last, the greater the desire to travel. Travel provider Tui sees an increasing interest in travel, both in inquiries from travel agencies and in clicks on the website.

"Now is the time to secure the best seats," it says in the broadcast. And the tour operator goes one better and lures with price promotions: “A week to the Mediterranean is available from 399 euros - including a flight!” Customers shouldn't hesitate too long. Because once the travel restrictions fall, the hotels can quickly be booked out.

Travel classics in southern Europe are the front runners in summer 2021

The first travel trends are already emerging. The front runners are the travel classics in Europe: Greece remains the most popular travel destination, followed by Italy, Croatia and Spain. The island with the highest demand is currently Crete, followed by Rhodes. That is why Tui is also increasing its offer in Greece. Antalya in Turkey ranks third among the most popular destinations.

Maximum security and flexibility

“Due to Corona, the priorities of the guests have changed and flexibility is currently more important than ever before. Tui has responded to this with the Flex tariff. This is very well received by customers; well over two thirds of all new bookings are currently bookings with the Flex tariff, ”says Gottfried Math, Managing Director TUI Austria. This gives vacationers the opportunity to rebook or cancel global package tours or accommodation bookings free of charge up to 14 days before arrival.

In the event of cancellation, customers will be reimbursed the entire travel price including the Flex tariff. If you book by April 30, the Covid Protect travel cover is also included. This travel protection also covers the corresponding care in the event of a trip to a risk area and includes, among other things, a virtual doctor's visit, Covid test, return flight guarantee as well as hotel and treatment costs.
