Tunisair Cargo: First ATR72 converted into freighters

Advertising

The airline Tunisair will enter the freight business under the Tunisair Cargo brand. To do this, two ATR 72-500s, which were previously operated by Tunisair Express, will be converted into freighters.

The kick-off is the TS-LBE, which was used by Tunisair Express for passenger flights until February 2020. According to CH-Aviation.com, the turboprop aircraft was converted into a freighter in France and arrived in Tunis a few days ago. An identical machine is currently being converted.

Tunisair Cargo will start without its own AOC. The services of Tunisair and Tunisair Express are used. Transport Minister Moez Chakchouk announced in February 2021 that the Group's cargo unit will be launched with two ATR72-500s and an unspecified narrowbody. The machines come from the group's inventory and will be converted accordingly. It has not yet been decided whether an Airbus A320 or a Boeing 737-600 will be converted in the jet sector.
