The worldwide patchwork of entry regulations that were issued due to the corona pandemic has been enriched by one measure from Tunisia since the beginning of the week. One-week package holidays are no longer possible with the new regulations, because a seven-day quarantine must first be started.

The African country is a popular holiday destination for Germans, Austrians and Swiss, especially in the cold season. However, the latest entry regulations are likely to have a significant negative impact on demand, as a negative PCR test must be presented at the border control. According to the German Foreign Ministry, this must not be older than 72 hours on departure and 120 hours on arrival in Tunisia.

However, the finding does not release the user from quarantine. After entering the country, isolation in a hotel or apartment must be commenced immediately. You can get rid of this after seven days by submitting another negative PCR test. Otherwise, the segregation lasts for 14 days. This also applies expressly to package tourists.

Eurowings is suspending flights to Barbados again

The Seychelles and Barbados have classified Germany as a risk area. As a result, vacationers have to go into quarantine. In Barbados, a negative PCR result must be submitted in English and must not be older than 72 hours. Another PCR test must then be carried out; if it turns out negative, the quarantine has ended. The segregation takes place in the hotel. Barbados Tourism Marketing announced that it will cover half the cost of the second test.

This measure already has consequences for air traffic, because Eurowings is suspending the connection from Frankfurt am Main, which was only reactivated on October 29, 2020. According to the reservation system, the aim is to resume from December 18, 2020. The company apparently expects that demand will collapse due to the new entry regulations.

The Seychelles are also tightening the rules, because from November 16, 2020 a negative PCR result, which must not be older than 48 hours, must be submitted. It is not possible to travel directly to the hotel because there is a six-day segregation in special quarantine hotels. Free PCR testing is carried out after five days. If this turns out negative, the booked hotel may be visited. However, it is not possible to take the second test before five days have elapsed.
