The state-owned Turkmenistan Airlines will order two converted A330 freighters from Airbus. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow has already signed the necessary decree.
In a government resolution of January 7th, it is said that management can now begin negotiations, reports the aviation portal Swiss Aviation. The planes are necessary to meet the demand for cargo capacity. Turkmenistan Airlines currently has three Ilyushin Il-76s in its cargo fleet. In the passenger business, the company relies on a pure Boeing fleet, including two 777-200s, three 737-700s, eight 737-800s and four 757-200s. In addition, the airline also uses several aircraft for the government.
